High-stress companies need to invest in employee mental health

This article discusses tactics leaders can use to manage anxiety in high-stress environments. These techniques include maintaining emotional distance and creating a calm atmosphere, ensuring that candidates are vetted for traits and ability to handle high-stress situations, giving employees space to independently manage stress as well as providing access to formal resources, addressing the problem rather than providing monetary compensation for troubles, and creating rules of operation that provide protective boundaries for employees. The article concludes that individuals who develop a plan to manage stress on the job will be able to thrive in challenging work situations.
